SPIDERR!!

Okay so new Bladee album! Of course I have thoughts.

I think it's perfect. It's a mix of insanely hype tracks- my favorites include I AM SLOWLY BUT SURELY LOSING HOPE and Velociraptor, and some calmer ethereal tracks like BLUE CRUSH ANGEL and She's Always Dancing, all perfectly produced by White Armor. This album flawlessly elaborates on themes brought forward by The Fool and Crest- inner peace, finding yourself and God, humility, love, and beauty. It's glorious and ethereal- Bladee evolves once again, building off almost a decade of expression.

Something I really want to talk about is the theme of finding yourself that I really want to talk about. In my Crest review, I talked about how Bladee is Benjamin Reichwald's art project as well as his sounding board for his real life identity- and as his sound and character evolves as Bladee, it's a mirror of his real life progression as a person. I think this is just a little part of what makes Bladee so attractive- it appeals to people who are also seeking themselves- a higher form of themselves at that. Bladee is the perfect trendsetter and role model for people like... me... who are seeking this kind of love and light for themselves. He speaks it so eloquently into existence- creating something out of nothing, to use his own words. It's incredible- there's no artist that can compare to him (in my opinion..).

I was talking to someone about this right after Spiderr dropped, and she said something so perfect- she said that Bladee is the embodiment of authenticity in the least pretentious way. I agree completely- as much as I praise him and say that he is the personification of love and light, you can go listen to the music and think it sounds like just some guy rambling in autotune. The best part is that Bladee doesn't exactly think he's all these things or try to be these things- he's just himself and it just... happens. It's flawlessly humble.

There is so much more that I can say about him. I think his music can be endlessly interpreted, and the best way to experience it is to just listen to it. If you're just getting into Bladee and really like Crest and The Fool, I really think you should give his earlier work a chance to get a feel of his evolution. It's different, but if you're attracted to the ethereal, uplifting religious sounds in these recent albums, you can literally track that glory through his discography from his very first songs (if you look for it). I understand early to mid 2010s cloud/trap/drain isn't for everyone, but it should be. So.

Also LOL I haven't written on this for like ever. My fault! Since the last post, I've seen Drain Gang twice, and I also have gotten into Sematary and the Haunted Mound pretty heavily (I went to their LA show too!). I have a lot of thoughts about Sematary and formulating identity, but I'll really have to organize them better before I start posting about it. There's a lot to say there and it's very difficult to explain to people who don't listen to Sematary or know a lot about the Haunted Mound. Anyway, I've also started a tumblr blog- https://fiveholywounds.tumblr.com/ - I post yellow stuff on there. Okay, bye.
