ok now that i have this blog, im so excited to talk about bladee!!
he is my favorite artist! i think he's so amazing LOL let me explain myself...
so about a year ago, i started listening to bladee. the first song i heard was western union and as a lover of terrible (loud, abrasive, kind of funny) music, i was immediately very interested in this sound. i didn't become near obsessed until november 2020, after my beastie boys phase. i fell in love with every album and every song. the mythology behind him and his little swedish friends consumed me, and suddenly i was crying watching the yung lean documentary with my best friend because i really felt like i understood them. i guess i listen to their music because i relate to it, but not in a way that i'm a mid-20s pill-addicted swedish man, it's more like i feel very connected to the sound itself. it's enchanting.
now let me discuss bladee himself. his name is benjamin, he's an aries sun, aries moon, and possibly a virgo rising, but no one knows for sure (except probably him). he's taller than yung lean and the way that he looks i can't even begin to describe. here's a picture of him-

anyway, he's just a white man, i know, but there's just something about him. i would pay all the money i have (about 22 dollars) to see his natal chart.
one of the best thing about him is that the way he looks doesn't matter at all. he could do anything and i would flip my shit because it's him!!! i'm just a huge fan it's near embarrassing.
so, as the resident drain historian for my own blog, i want to discuss the music itself. it can't really be described, but i will do my best. the songs are produced by a couple people, notably whitearmor, yung sherman, gud, ripsquadd, mechatok, and cadycutthroat. working on dying also produced for bladee on the album suitably named working on dying (AMAZING ALBUM). sherman and gud are also members of sadboys, which includes yung lean, another very very very talented musician who was really the pioneer of the sadboy drain shit. i could not even begin to describe yung lean, so just know that he is probably the most rapper ever. going back to the production of bladee's songs, aside from the tracks, the vocal effects he uses make him sound otherworldly and truly beautiful. it's near autotune- definitely layered and edited, but it's still his voice. as for lyrical content, i can't do what he says justice. he definitely chooses words that sound good together, but it's not all bullshit. he has some important things to say, and i reference his lyrics all the time when they apply to irl situations.
at this point, it's time for me to recommend music. unfortunately, it's difficult to pick a perfect entry song. the closest ones are probably be nice 2 me, famous, and cartier god icedancer intermission. icedancer in general is a pretty good introduction to bladee. songs i recommend for new listeners off icedancer are jaws, close, frosty the snowman, and mallwhore freestyle. i would also recommend redlight- hex, for you, im goofy, and that thing you do. off 333 i would recommend mean girls, noblest strive, hero of my story, and reality surf. after that, i would recommend eversince- romeo, missing person, and lovenote. other assorted songs include hennessy and sailor moon, all i want, and love goes on.
anyway, thank you for reading, and if you don't already listen to bladee, i hope i've convinced you to listen to a song or two (or all of them). the night's calling!!! ☼.☼
